Pictures of my apartment, the view from my apartment, and some of my new belongings.

Total 15 pictures

----------------------

My apartment

View of my apartment from a boat, it's the one that's kind of in the middle, and taller than the others. My room is on the top right. All of the 3 other people who live in my building are teachers (unfortunately, the English teacher does not live so close).

----------------------

My kitchen. It's got one of those lights (as does my bedroom and living room) that flickers for about 5 - 10 seconds before turning on.

----------------------

My living room (where I choose to sleep because the tv and a/c are here). When not in use, I fold up the futon and put it on those chairs like it is now. To use it, I just put it on the floor over to the left there and unfold it.

----------------------

Looking from my living room into my bedroom.

----------------------

My bedroom (which I don't really use). Nice 6 mat room. Good view.

----------------------

My entryway. It's got that little step like every Japanese house. Technically, this little area before the step is considered public property, so legally, anyone can come into your entryway without knocking. Nowadays, however, most people won't even open your door unless you open it for them or tell them it's okay. Besides, all the doors have locks now too.

----------------------

My dryer. I don't like to do it outside (at least not during the summer), because there's too many bugs.

----------------------

My bathroom area (toilet straight ahead, shower to the right)

----------------------

Unfortunately, I don't have one of those toilets that sprays your ass (lots of homes and hotels do). But I do have the option of a big flush or a small flush.

----------------------

Japanese-style shower. The tub is so deep it'll go up to my shoulders when I'm sitting. Can't wait until winter when I can actually enjoy it. You can also see the manual gas-powered water heater to the left of the tub. Took me a few days to figure it out.

----------------------

View from my bedroom window

Unfortunately, I choose not to sleep in my bedroom. I sleep in my living room, where the a/c and tv are.

-----------------------

View from my rooftop

My rooftop is my new favorite place. See if you can figure out why.

Fortunately, these rusty metal bars are stronger than they look. Let's go up to my roof and take a look around. (If you have a backpack on, or are really fat, you might not fit.)

View when looking ahead and to the left

View when looking left. (the view when looking straight from the roof is the same as the viewfrom my window, only it is tainted by powerlines.)

Posessions

These are various things that my predecessors or the Board of Education provided for me.

This is my "inkan". According to the law in Japan, this is my signature. It's a little carved wooden stamp they make for you. And you know what that means? It's possible for my signature to get lost or even stolen! Not to worry, I'm a responsible guy, and this is Japan! What does it say? Sha-ru-mi or "shulmi". Yeah, I got to choose.
