Long story behind this pic, the woman on the right owns a liquor store on the other island I work on. I went there every day after work to buy some candy while I wait for the boat. Pretty soon she invited me to dinner, and because my Japanese is weak, I couldn't figure out why. Turns out her sister (in pink) married a Canadian guy, and they live in Hawaii, but they came to visit. I was very surprised to see another foreigner when I got there, and we had a great time.

Everything's cuter in Japan. This is the logo for the fire department.

Taiko lesson. All of these kids are my students at Gosh JH, except for Matsunaga san on the left, who is my friend from wakeboarding. Goshoura is a VERY small world. Kenji is on the back on that cool black drum. By the way, these kids blow Fuushu Daiko away. I'll try to get a video up sometime.

A picture of me and the first thing you see when you get off the boat in Goshoura. Apparently, Matsunaga san made this statue. For more, see the Dinosaur Stuff section.

The view when coming in on the boat. The dino head above is visible over to the left, and there is a triceratops to the right on top of the fish store.

No tippie toes or anything, and my entire hand goes over the minibare net.

3 pictures from my welcome party:

Food to be barbecued.

Tons of onigiri (rice balls). I love onigiri

Lots of food and beer, traditional Japanese barbecue.

One morning I offered to help my dad and some other people cut the grass. They gave me this weird scythe-looking tool shown in the picture.

The group of people who I cut the grass with that day.

One day I went with my mom to pick up Shiho-chan and Mifuyu-chan from Karate practice, and I had just had to take a picture of these kids, because they're so hardcore, and yet so cute.
