A typical day's lunch. The beer mug full of tea is mine, because the tiny milk is never enough. Also, that red plate has some tai sasshimi on it which was really good. That was a special thing, they don't usually have anything else.

Another typical school lunch.

Probably my favorite school lunch: Curry rice.

A salad they serve occasionally at school that I tried and won't eat. They use the little fish in a few different dishes. Even the eyeballs are still there sometimes.

In the middle of September, I went to my host family's house again for dinner. On the left is this weird (but good) lasagna, and in the middle and top right is cooked horse meat. Horse is served both cooked and raw in Japan, and is considered a delicacy. It was delicious.

Among the things served at a work party for Goshoura JH teachers. To your left, raw horse meat. It was delicious. To your right, a big, ugly fish head. Didn't touch it.

Hungry? Why wait? Grab a fish on a stick. This is what the Japanese consider "fair food". Found at the fireworks festival in Yatsushiro.

They told me this is a "dragon fruit". I actually managed to eat most of it, despite it's weird color, appearance, and well, the fact that it's a fruit. It's really pretty though, isn't it? I was given this at Kita Elementary School.
